Nick & Nicolle - July 28, 2017

Nick & Nicolle - July 28, 2017

Nick & Nicolle got married at one of my favorite venues, Locust Grove Estate. Locust grove has beautiful gardens throughout the season and every wedding I have shot there has been different.

Nicolle got ready with her girls at her parent's house with her dog, Brooklyn, at her side.

Nick got ready at the hotel next door to Locust Grove with his groomsmen.

Afterwards, Nicolle had a very special first look with her father.

Nick and Nicolle had their ceremony outdoors under the beautiful trees.

Following the ceremony, we headed out to the gardens to get pictures of the bridal party together.

After the bridal party photos..Nick and Nicolle went throughout the gardens and we took their bridal party photos. How beautiful did Nicolle look?? was time to PARTY!

Kaitlin & Christopher - July 15, 2017

Kaitlin & Christopher - July 15, 2017

Kaitlin and Christopher's wedding at Hollow Brook Golf Club is one of my favorites! Kaitlin and Christopher got married on a hot summer day and we were all sweating. Thank goodness for golf carts, the breeze was a life saver!

Kaitlin's hair was done by her sister, Jillian. Such a special moment for the two of them to share.

Kaitlin and Christopher set up their first look waaaay before the ceremony so we had plenty of time to take pictures and I'm so glad they did. Because of this we were able to take our time and explore all of the awesome places Hollow Brook has for you to shoot at.

During Kaitlin and Chris' bridal portraits we were completely surrounded by butterflies. It was super beautiful.

After the bridal portraits we were able to knock out the bridal party and family portraits.

After all the formal portraits was the ceremony! Kaitlin and Chris' ceremony was on a beautiful porch that overlooked the golf course.

After that it was time to PARTY!

If there is an epic sunset during a couple's reception I will ALWAYS ask if you want to go outside. You'll get epic pictures like these...

What to Wear to Your Engagement Shoot

What to Wear to Your Engagement Shoot

A common question I get is; "What should I wear to my engagement shoot?"

Because of this I have created a style guide for my clients! I am going to summarize it up for you right here in this blog post! If you are interested in having me email you the full pdf, email me! (

First thing you need to decide is: What vibe are you going for? Do you want to be boho and earthy? How about chic and modern? What about a little bit of both?

Second thing you need to decide is: What do you want in the background?

Once you have decided on a location and theme, that’s when you plan what you are going to wear!

You also want to keep in mind that you may want to get your hair and makeup done. If this is the case you want to make sure you choose a hairstyle that matches your theme.

Wardrobe Tips & Tricks:

  • The best tip in my opinion is not choose colors that will go unnoticed in the surrounding area, such as green clothing in a forest. You also want to make sure that you come up with a color scheme the two of you will be following so your outfits do not clash. You want to make sure you compliment each other and that your outfits aren’t competing.
  • Limit your prints! A common mistake is to mix prints. If one of you is going to wear a plaid shirt for example then the other person should be wearing a solid shirt or top.
  • If you can’t decide on a theme you want to stick to, bring two outfits! Just be sure that if you’re only bringing one pair of shoes the shoes compliment both outfits.
  • Make sure you choose outfits that compliment your personalities! For example: If you’re someone who is most often wearing casual clothes, don’t show up in a ball gown or a suit. You want to dress up a little more than you would on a daily basis but you still want to look like yourself.
  • Don’t wear any clothing with words on it! Clothing with font can be super distracting in photos and it can get distorted in the camera as well. Try to stick to solid colors and don’t be afraid to layer some clothing!

What to Wear to Boho Engagement Sessions:

A boho engagement session is typically full of nature. For example; mountains, woods, gardens, fields, etc. If you’re looking for a boho, earthy vibe you want to pick clothing that is nice and flowy and allows you to breathe.

Ladies, you will want to wear a maxi dress or a top with a lot of lace. Another great pattern is floral. You probably will also want to wear your hair down and in loose curls.

Gentlemen, you will want to wear a nice top and a pair of jeans or khakis. You want to wear an outfit that you would be happy
with wearing to a first date.

What to Wear to Modern Engagement Session:

A modern or industrial style engagement shoot is typically heavy on architecture. For example; New York City Skyline, brick buildings, art galleries, coffee shops, etc.

Ladies, for this style shoot you have a few more options with your apparel. You can wear a chic little white dress or you could wear a flowy top with some skinny jeans and some chunky heels.

Gentlemen, you can either dress up or down for this style shoot. You could either pair a blazer with some nice chinos or you could wear a leather jacket with some skinny jeans and a v-neck tee.

The big difference in these shoots is that you typically will have more a  passionate, intimate slew of photos where as boho engagement shoots are more romantic.

Carolina & Ben - June 16, 2016

Carolina and Ben had a super sweet elopement in the middle of Van Vorst Park with their closest friends and family. The two had their ceremony in the gazebo, followed by a dance and cake cutting under the gazebo as well. Afterwards, we walked the park and the surrounding areas down to the waterfront and took pictures all along the way. There was a little rain along the way but that didn't stop us from making some magic! The fog along the skyline was to die for! I need some more sweet ceremonies like this in my life. Know someone planning an elopement? Send them my way!

Cassandra & Kellan - June 10, 2017

Cassandra and Kellan got married at The Briarcliff Manor. Their love story was just featured on H&H Weddings! How did they meet? You can read all about it on the post on H&H Weddings. Here's a little blip off the site!

"We met in Indiana doing one of the things we love, playing rugby. Cass, after almost a year hiatus from the sport, decided to come back to it while Kel was enjoying another usual Saturday playing their sport of choice. Both of us were not expecting much for that day except to have fun. Cass was set to leave Indiana to move to Boston, Massachusetts in 3 months, however, she met a charming and wonderful Kel on that day. After the game, she asked for his phone number and the next weekend was our first date. Every weekend after that one was filled with us visiting each other until the day came when Cass was Boston-bound. Kel helped Cass pack up her apartment and drove the truck from Indiana to Boston. The next year was difficult, filled with changes, late-night FaceTiming, and accruing A LOT of frequent flyer miles, however, we made it work. After a year of being apart, we packed up and were ready move in together in Brooklyn, New York, but first had to make a stop in Boston to help Cass pack up...again (moving has become a team sport, with Kel being an excellent packer and Cass doing an amazing job unpacking). It was a tough road getting to that point, but it was worth it in the end."

Enjoy flipping through their wedding!!

Boho Styled Shoot - May 7, 2017

For this styled shoot I wanted to focus on the couple instead of the details. Typically a styled shoot is styled to look like a big wedding, but instead me and my team worked to style an elopement. We still had many great details such as an announcement suite, cake, a satin table runner, a dress, jewelry, florals, etc. Please check out the bottom of the post for all these amazing vendors' information!

During our shoot it was raining, freezing and windy. But our beautiful models made it seem like it was just your typical day running around taking pictures. Take a look!
