These two Arkansas turned New York cuties had their engagement session with me in The Hamptons a few weeks ago! Their engagement session was full of fun, laughter, wine, and an adorable dog. What else could I ask for?? We started at the Corey Creek Tasting Room property and then headed to the Sound View at Greenport for sunset on the beach. This engagement shoot is seriously what dreams are made of and they could not have asked for a more perfect day or session.
Maura and Ryan got married at one of my favorite venues, Red Maple Vineyard. These two are SUCH sweethearts - I can’t even take it. These two booked me almost two years prior to their wedding and when their wedding day came I was so excited for my two friends. They had the most moody and beautiful first look I’ve pretty much ever shot. Scroll through for some extra hot cuteness! As usual the vendors are on the bottom!
Kristie and Jordan got married at Vassar College and had their reception at The Brotherhood Winery. They lucked out and had some beautiful weather with a manageable amount of heat. They had the most beautiful day and were all smiles all day. As usual the vendors are at the bottom!
These two California cuties had their session when I was in Oregon in April. It was Blake’s senior year of college and they decided to have a couple’s session to celebrate their last year of living in Oregon together before moving home to California. It was a ton of fun hanging out with these two and they were such good spirits about being up for sunrise to take their photos. We started in the magical rainforest and moved to the beach for some more playful shots where we got SOAKED by an enormous wave that none of us saw coming. It was one COLD ride back to our airbnb. I hope you enjoy scrolling through the photos. Happy scrolling! 💁
Ally and Eric got married at West Hills Counrty Club in August. They had the most beautiful weather and the forecast was thunderstorms but it held out until the end of the reception when it MONSOONED. Ally and Eric had the most beautiful sunset and got to go run out and dance in it for a few minutes before heading into the reception for their first dance as husband and wife. I hope you enjoy what you see! As usual the vendors are on the bottom! Happy scrolling!
Hannah and Ethan had the most adorable backyard wedding at Ethan’s childhood home in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. They spent the day together and hung out together until Hannah slipped into her dress. Once Hannah was dressed we did a first look facing the lake and the rest of the day went by in a flash. Following the first look, Hannah and Ethan signed their Ketubah and then had their wedding ceremony and reception. These two were so much fun and it was such a pleasure to see them so excited and having so much fun. At the end of the night Hannah even shot gunned a beer with the guests of her reception and it was great. As usual all of the vendors are at the bottom. Happy scrolling!!
It’s been a while since I have done a education post so here’s one that’s super IMPORTANT! What to Consider When Planning Your Wedding Reception!
This statement is a multi step process. First question to ask yourself is:
What’s the lighting like in my venue?
Is the space super dark? Is is super bright? Are you going to have candles lit? All of these things will affect your photos. If you have candles lit you will chances are have a dimly lit reception space with the candles giving off the majority of the light. If you have chandeliers you will have light surrounding your guests from the ceiling. Does any of this actually matter? No. It’s just up to your preference! I highly recommend that you flip through some different pictures and see what your preference is! You also should figure this out and let your photographer know in case they need to bring extra lighting!
Does my DJ company supply lights? Will there be uplighting/disco lights?
This you NEED to figure out before your wedding. Otherwise during your first dance you may have green disco lights being shined on your face. While these lights may seem fun - I highly recommend requesting that all lighting be white during your dances and key moments. If this isn’t done your photos will have a tint of whatever color is being displayed during the reception. It causes everything to get that hue - even your wedding cake. Party lights are great and fun but save them for the party portion. Not the speeches/dances/cake cutting. I prooooomise you’ll regret it.
WHAT TIME DO YOUR VENDORS LEAVE?
This one is SO important! When looking at your schedule make sure that your photographer and videographer will still be there when the important parts of your wedding are happening. Some venues don’t do all the formalities right off the bat so that’s something you’ll want to check with your venue and dj! Something to consider is asking your venue if you can do all the formalities in one hunk. This way you only have to get your guests’ attention once and then you can focus on just partying for the rest of your night!
WHERE WILL YOUR VENDORS BE SEATED DURING THE RECEPTION?
Here’s an awkward but good one. It’s awkward because as vendors we feel bad telling you need a space buuuuuuut we need a space. I highly encourage that you have a vendor table in your reception. So frequently we get seated in rooms that are far away from you guys. When this happens we don’t see/hear moments going on. You can’t find us when you have a question for us and most importantly - we don’t have a space to put our things all day. This leads to us having to leave the reception to grab a lens or a battery OR even worse if we have to leave it in the reception space it can potentially be in your photos. Which is ugly and nobody wants.
ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE A CHOREOGRAPHED FIRST DANCE? OR PARENT DANCE?
Here’s one that as photographers we really need to know! We can’t capture that dip, flip, or pose if we don’t know it’s coming! If you have one of those things try to face towards a camera when you do it! So often I have couples dip away from me and kiss and let’s just say YOUR FEET LOOK REAL GOOD… because I can’t see anything else 😂 You don’t have to rehearse it for your photographer by any means but just let them know if you’re planning to do any tricks so we can capture it.
RECEPTION DETAILS. HOW TO MAKE SURE THEY’RE ALL CAPTURED!
Make sure nobody is allowed into your reception space prior to the reception starting. Most venues do this but if they don’t then you will have jackets on chairs and people sitting at tables. If you don’t do a first look then your photographer can’t get into the reception space before the tail end of cocktail hour so you want to make sure if that’s the case that there are still untouched tables when they get into the space.
If you think I forgot something or you have a question about a part of the reception feel free to leave it in the comments below! 👇🏻
Jess and James spent a gorgeous cool summer night with me at Storm King Mountain and the Moodna Viaduct for their engagement session. I got to meet Blitz and Thor - these two BEAUTIFUL pups and of course..take photos of their parents. We started with Storm King and finished at the Moodna Viaduct for a gorgeous gleaming sunset. I hope you enjoy scrolling through!
Sarah and Steve got married at The Foundry in Long Island City. They had an epic day. From the florals, to the sunset, to the photo booth, to the Chuppah..it was all insane. These two have a love story unlike any other and it was such a pleasure tp watch the day unfold. Steve’s family had all the Russians and Sarah’s family had all the Australians….AKA a wild f*cking party. I hope you enjoy scrolling! As usual vendors are on the bottom!

Sarah and Matthew had their engagement session at Minnewaska State Park. I got to meet this beautiful baby girl pup so obviouslyyyy I was happy. We had the most perfect view of the sunset and nobody fell off of a cliff. So all in all it was a successful engagement session in my opinion. 😂
Kyra and Sam were brave and woke up at the butt crack of dawn for a sunrise engagement session in Cold Spring, NY. The fog rolled in on the Hudson and boy oh boy was it beautifully moody. Seagulls circled us (gross) which looked adorable in photos. I may or may not have been ducking like a coward every five seconds but it’s okay. Then we headed to the streets of Cold Spring. Check out this cuteness!
Jenn and Dean got married on the hottest day in July at Fiddle Lakes Farm in Pennsylvania. There was a thunderstorm, a rainbow, and two beautiful people starting the beginning of their lives as a married couple. Jenn and Dean were such a joy to photograph and I’m so happy I got to play a small part in documenting their love. I hope you enjoy scrolling and as usual the vendors are on the bottom!
